Pre-own Antique Scrimshawed Tooth Necklace

I honestly do not know what this is. I think it is Fossil Walrus tooth... but I don't know for sure.

It is a pre-owned, well loved, and well worn piece. The art work looks old style. I would guess, mid 17-1800's. But I could be way off.
